Billon represents Polish fintech in Tokyo

Chosen by Japanese experts as the top Polish fintech company, Billon took part in a fintech seminar in the Polish embassy in Tokyo.

 

(London/Warsaw, September 14, 2017) On June 16 Billon participated in the showcase of the Polish fintech industry “Do IT in Poland” organized by the embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tokyo. The company won the voting of over 70 Japanese fintech experts, representing financial institutions, tech companies, VC funds and corporations investing in fintech. Out of over 35 submissions the experts chose 7 companies, that presented themselves in Japan.

As the Tokyo government urges to adopt electronic money as as widely as possible, I believe Billon’s technology is a great fit for Japanese businesses. Tomasz Jamróz from the embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tokyo: “By organizing this seminar we hope to build the image of Poland as a country of modern technology. Our goal is to support Polish enterprises in succeeding on foreign markets. Especially the Japanese market, with a high entry barrier and specific cultural conditions, is the place where our support can be of help.”

 

The seminar also included representatives of other Polish fintechs: bankUP, Nethone, EFIX DATA, Finantaq, uPaid, as well as the Silesian Technology University. Opening remarks were delivered by Jacek Izydorczyk, the ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Tokyo, and Ikuo Yasuda, chairman of Pinnacle consulting company.

 

The June seminar was attended by about 120 people. The audience consisted of representatives of the biggest Japanese banks, insurance companies, VC and private equity funds, technological companies such as Fujitsu, NEC, Epson or NTT Data, internet and regional banks, and Japanese fintechs.
