TAURON
introduces fully digital documents distribution with Billon's Trusted Document Management
CHALLENGE
TAURON Polska Energia, one of the biggest energy providers in Poland, aimed to migrate from paper documents distribution for general energy tariffs and customer contracts into a fully digital process, in compliance with Durable Medium requirements.
The main objective of the project was to reduce costs related to paper-based document distribution to customers and streamline the sales process.
OUR SOLUTION
Billon provided a blockchain-based e-document client platform (TDM- Trusted Document Management) with tamper-proof, immutable register of documents for better data management and sharing.

HOW IT WORKS
TAURON Side
STEP 1
Energy agreement is published on DLT through customized publication panel
Trusted Document Management provides a customized publication panel for documents publication. This process supports preparation of PDF files from HTML files sent to the publication application.
STEP 2
Customer receives in a separate communication an individual code to decrypt and access the document.
The processes of transforming the document into PDF along with reading and implementing customer identity details extracted from TAURON internal systems are automated. This step reduces the manual work needed from TAURON side.
STEP 3
Agreement cryptographically secured in PDF format & published on DLT
Agreement and all data are fully encrypted. A special individual description code for the document is sent in a separate communication to the customer for decryption and access to the document.
STEP 4
Customer receives URL to the document stored on blockchain and the decryption code to access the document securely
Trusted Document Management includes integrated notification services so the customer is instantly notified once the document is available on blockchain and can access it any time. TAURON receives delivery status report and can check when the document was received and decrypted by the customer.
Customer Side
Customer receives sms / email notification with link
Customer clicks on the link and needs to enter decryption code to retrieve the document from DLT
Customer can see document details and download the PDF file with energy agreement
RESULTS
BEFORE
Contracts completed remotely had to be followed up (+T&Cs) with ‘hard’ copy
Prior to the implementation of our solution, TAURON prepared the final agreement manually, sent customer contracts and related tariffs by post or customers had to collect documents from stationary service points
AFTER
All contract documents automatically stored on DLT and available to clients in real time
