Adidas goes full metaverse with Coinbase partnership and The Sandbox real estate.  Adidas has partnered with Coinbase and bought a virtual parcel of land in the blockchain-based world The Sandbox in the company's metaverse push. "That's something big because it is also a hint of what's about to hit the fan in a couple of months in the NFT space: the Adidas sneakers and other branded virtual clothes, shoes and objects," said Ipek Ozkardeskaya, senior analyst at Swissquote.

Dorsey-led Square rebrands to Block in nod to blockchain. Square, the payments company led by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, said on Wednesday it was changing its name to Block Inc, as it looks to expand beyond its payment business and into new technologies like blockchain. This is a strategy similar to Meta Platforms (ex-Facebook) rebrand last month.

Facebook retreats from crypto ad ban. Facebook on Wednesday announced its decision to reverse long-standing policy that prevented most cryptocurrency companies from running ads on its services. The company’s new policy is huge for the crypto industry and will allow more retail investors to access cryptocurrencies than ever before. 

Tanzania plans to launch CBDC after eNaira launch Tanzania is preparing to launch a digital form of its local currency, the Tanzanian shilling, the governor of the Bank of Tanzania said at a finance conference in the nation's capital Dodoma. At the same time, Tanzania remains wary of cryptocurrencies and advises the public to be cautious

Bank Indonesia mulls digital currency as a way to ‘fight’ crypto. Indonesia’s central bank wants a digital form of the rupiah to “fight” cryptocurrencies as it considers whether to issue such a tender, said a senior official. Bank Indonesia has been considering testing a CBDC since the start of this year but no timeline yet has been announced.
