Billon is the first ever Polish Fintech50!

Billon has become the very first Polish company ever to feature in the annual Fintech50, a prestigious list of the most innovative and exciting European companies from the world of finance and technology. We have been handpicked from a long-list of over 1,800 FinTechs across Europe; the largest ever number of FinTechs considered for the list.

The annual FinTech50 is the first list to feature FinTech companies for their innovation rather than list them in order of revenue. This year’s selection panel included innovation and investment heads from tier-one banks HSBC, Deutsche Bank and Barclays, Insurers Axa and Aviva, VC investors, global FinTechs such as Stripe with Billon appearing alongside fellow innovators such as Monzo Bank, Revolut, Azimo, Ethereum and Onfido.

The names were revealed at an exclusive event in London hosted by Silicon Valley Bank. Alex McCracken, Managing Director of Silicon Valley Bank and FinTech50 panel member, explained, “The Fintech50 was selected by a panel of FinTech specialists from Banks, FinServs and Investment Funds. We nominated FinTechs that are solving big problems in the Finserv sector and are likely to succeed as they are growing fast and have differentiated solutions. We selected companies in key areas such as Insurtech, Identity Verification, Robotic Process Automation, Data Analytics, Regtech, Blockchain development, Payments and Online Lending.”

FinTech50 recognised Billon’s recent partnership with Biuro Informacji Kredytowej (BIK), the biggest CEE credit score provider owned by most innovative Polish banks, to move communication with up to 25 million individuals and businesses to blockchain. The news was covered by some of the leading crypto and business outlets in Poland, UK and the US, generating a lot of buzz for Billon and its innovative blockchain technology.

Julie Lake, CEO and Co-Founder of The FinTech50, said, “This is very much a forward-looking “watch list" and not a review of who did well in 2017. We asked the panel to take a big-picture view of the sector and look at what excited them as leading investors, buyers and sector watchers and who they would be looking out for this year. For us, the hottest trend this year is not the strength of individual verticals such as RegTech or InsurTech, but in how a once fragmented sector is increasingly working together with banks and with other FinTechs to deliver a superior experience for customers.”

Our CEO and Founder, Andrzej Horoszczak, said of the news, “We are delighted to have been included in this years’ FinTech50, and receive recognition for our blockchain innovations from an international panel of FinTech experts. We’re extremely grateful to all of our customers, partners and our employees for their continued support, and look forward to further growth and innovation as we pass the midway point in 2018.”
